BOTIX and Volkswagen Anhui Explore Green and Smart Logistics Solutions

May 22.2025

On the afternoon of May 20, a delegation from BOTIX visited Volkswagen (Anhui) Automotive Company Limited (“Volkswagen Anhui”) in Hefei, Anhui Province, at the company’s invitation. The two sides met with Volkswagen Anhui’s Logistics Division to explore green and smart logistics solutions for the new energy vehicle industry, supported by green and intelligent vessels.

Volkswagen Anhui, formerly JAC Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd., was established in 2017 as Volkswagen Group’s first joint venture in China dedicated to new energy vehicles. Its ID. UNYX model was launched in 2024. As the industry continues to grow rapidly, reducing costs, improving efficiency, conserving energy, and lowering emissions across finished-vehicle and component logistics have become increasingly important.

During the technical presentation, the BOTIX team introduced its latest advances in maritime autonomy and green and intelligent vessels. These included the launch of Auto Spring, China’s first inland electric cargo test vessel developed for end-to-end autonomous navigation, as well as the company’s plans to develop China’s first autonomous navigation route.

Developed through full-stack in-house R&D, this new generation of green and intelligent vessels is expected to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions while improving operational efficiency. Real-time data collection and analysis will also enable end-to-end supply chain visibility and optimized management, supporting safer and more reliable supply chain operations.

During the subsequent discussion, the two sides examined key challenges in automotive logistics and supply chain management. Topics included reducing logistics costs through electric vessels and autonomous navigation, increasing the share of multimodal transport to build a more flexible supply chain, and advancing green transportation and carbon footprint management in line with ESG principles.

BOTIX will develop solutions tailored to Volkswagen Anhui’s operational requirements and explore opportunities for future cooperation, with the aim of helping the new energy vehicle supply chain reduce costs, improve efficiency, and strengthen coordination.

Industry observers note that ESG considerations are fundamentally reshaping competition among manufacturing companies. Competitive strength is no longer determined by products alone, but increasingly by low-carbon innovation, contributions to sustainable development, and modern governance capabilities.

BOTIX will continue to advance its technology development and collaborate with industry partners to accelerate the commercial deployment of maritime autonomy, bringing new momentum to the sustainable development of global logistics and supply chains.
