BOTIX 4D Imaging Small-Target Radar Receives CCS Marine Product Test Certificate

BOTIX Navigation (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. has received a Marine Product Test Certificate from China Classification Society (CCS) for its independently developed 4D Imaging Small-Target Radar. The certificate confirms that the product’s key performance parameters and system functions have passed professional onsite inspection, laying a solid foundation for future onboard deployment and broader market adoption.

China Classification Society is China’s national ship survey organization under the Ministry of Transport and a full member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS). With its rigorous survey standards, comprehensive technical rules, and professional capabilities, certificates issued by CCS are widely recognized throughout the global maritime industry.

During the testing process, a CCS expert team conducted a systematic assessment of the radar’s core performance parameters and functions. Testing covered both static and dynamic performance. The dynamic tests used actual vessels as observation targets, completing 21 observation runs and recording 72 real-vessel target samples. To evaluate the product under realistic navigational conditions, the trials also covered different weather and visibility conditions, including rain and reduced visibility. The results demonstrated the product’s feasibility and maturity for progression from laboratory development to onboard engineering deployment.

The BOTIX 4D Imaging Small-Target Radar was developed to address the limitations of conventional marine radar in close-range small-target perception. By introducing millimeter-wave radar technology into marine navigation and applying substantial engineering innovation, the product extends conventional radar performance in demanding close-range scenarios. According to testing conducted by the CCS expert team, the radar achieved a maximum detection range of 863 m for low-reflectivity targets such as buoys, 2,600 m for small vessels without AIS, and 4,000 m for large and very large vessels. These results demonstrate accurate and stable close-range target detection across the tested operating conditions.

The issuance of this CCS certificate marks another important step in BOTIX’s systematic development of maritime autonomy technologies. Environmental perception is a fundamental component of an Autonomous Navigation System and provides critical data for decision-making and control. The BOTIX Autonomous Navigation System previously completed CCS Approval in Principle review and proof-of-concept prototype validation, supporting the Nn requirements for end-to-end autonomous navigation and the A1 requirements for autonomous vessel operation under the CCS Rules for Intelligent Ships.

The Marine Product Test Certificate for the 4D Imaging Small-Target Radar represents further progress in strengthening BOTIX’s maritime autonomy technology portfolio. It provides a more robust perception foundation for improving the reliability of the company’s Autonomous Navigation System.
