BOTIX Invited to Attend ISO/TC 8/SC 7 Plenary Meeting on Inland Navigation Vessels
On September 15, 2025, the plenary meeting hosted by the secretariat of ISO/TC 8, Ships and Marine Technology, together with the first in-person plenary meeting of ISO/TC 8/SC 7, Inland Navigation Vessels, was held in Istanbul, Türkiye. The meeting brought together experts and representatives from ISO member countries and relevant organizations worldwide.
Yu Yang, Senior Vice President of BOTIX and a member of the Chinese technical committee, was invited to attend with a three-person delegation.
Drawing on its extensive experience and forward-looking work in electric vessels, BOTIX presented an innovative proposal for inland navigation vessels, covering key areas such as energy-efficiency optimization, system integration and reliability, intelligent expansion, and sustainable development.
The technical roadmap and architectural concepts presented by BOTIX received strong recognition from the attending experts, who highlighted their forward-looking approach and potential industry value. BOTIX’s work in system-level energy management, vessel-wide data integration, hardware-software decoupling, and over-the-air updates demonstrated what participants regarded as internationally advanced technical capabilities. The meeting also reviewed and confirmed the schedule and key milestones for subsequent work.
The system architecture standard proposed by BOTIX supports global carbon-neutrality goals and the transition toward greener shipping. It also provides a practical technical foundation for the intelligent, standardized, and scalable development of electric inland vessels.
The architecture has already been implemented aboard Auto Spring, BOTIX’s independently developed vessel. It enables a transition from conventional distributed control to a new architecture centered on centralized computing and communications, significantly improving vessel energy efficiency, system reliability, and intelligent capabilities.
Looking ahead, BOTIX will continue to contribute to ISO standardization activities and deepen technical exchanges and cooperation with the international maritime community, supporting the high-quality and sustainable development of inland navigation vessels and related industries.
